Overall Impressions:
The most striking portfolios shared several key characteristics. They gave a sense of the designer’s strengths, experience level, and design niché.
Visually they varied in style, but all were appealing due to several design practices. They leveraged space effectively, creating a sense of order. The graphics and color schemes provided bold, simple contrasts, enhancing visual appeal and web accessibility. Some used motion and interaction design effectively. The use of sans-serif fonts was popular and was sometimes paired with serif fonts. There was a clear sense of hierarchy and proportion in all portfolios which made them appealing to review. The homepages showcased graphical, grid layouts leading to in-depth case studies, which thoroughly described and illustrated the project’s thought processes. The content was carefully crafted and the menus were clear, light, and straightforward. Modern, offset grids added a visually appealing touch. While reviewed primarily on desktop, these websites also translated seamlessly to mobile interfaces.
